The artist's quarter Ljublana - this would give kids nightmares! |
It wasn't much fun leaving the city. A thaw was taking place and the busy road out of Ljubljana had it's fair share of inconsiderate honking drivers which really annoys me. However, the predicted rain didn't arrive and it turned in to a mild sunny day. Slovenia is really pretty. Neat, tidy smallholdings with an open alpine feel to the scenery.
I was having lunch at a bus shelter when a Jakob, a boy about 9 turned up. His English was amazing and we had a nice little chat. In fact most people I met seemed to have a good grasp of English, which makes me feel a bit dumb......even if I'm told how to say something I can't get my tongue round the pronunciation. Must try harder.
Artist's Quarter |
I found a good campsite in some woods, carpeted with snow drops, crocuses and primroses. I met a cheerful old lady carrying a small milk churn up through the forest as I set up the tent. She passed twice more in the morning each time greeting me with "English - Good! Good!"
Lots of well-kept farm buildings............. |
and neat villages |
These drying racks are everywhere...........for maize and hay |
little ones.......... |
and big ones |
but they sell porridge in Slovenia! |
I haven't got a clue! |
These are mobile apiaries, they are everywhere, some sized to lift onto the flatbed lorries. The bees are probably kept indoors during the worst winter months. |
